The following sections explain more about data collection and retention practices at Creator Business Club.

Use of Cookies

A cookie is a small piece of code that usually includes a unique identifier. When you visit a website, the site stores a cookie in a place on your computer specifically designed to hold cookies. To protect your privacy, a website can only see the cookies it has sent to you. It cannot see cookies stored on your computer by other websites.

There are four common types of cookies websites use:

Necessary cookies. These cookies are essential for parts of a website to function properly. For example, if the site has a shopping feature, necessary cookies keep track of the items you’ve placed in your cart. Without these, the shopping feature of the website couldn’t work.

Performance cookies. These cookies collect information on how a website is performing. For example, if users click on a page and get an error message, performance cookies will record this. Performance cookies aggregate data. That means they don’t collect information on individual users. Instead, they group data to give an idea of how a website performs for many users over time.

Functional cookies. These cookies collect and store information about your preferences. For example, if you visit a website and the text is too small, you can adjust the settings in your browser so that the text for that website is larger. This information can be stored with functional cookies so the next time you visit the website, the text will resize automatically.

Targeting cookies. These are also known as advertising cookies. These cookies store information about your web browsing habits so that online advertisers can show content relevant to you. For example, if you visit a lot of pet related websites, you’ll likely see pet related advertisements, even on sites you visit that have nothing to do with pets. Advertisers have used cookies to target you based on your known interest in pets.

The CBC website currently does not use any tracking cookies. If this changes in the future, users will be able to opt-out of cookies upon their next visit to the website.

Most online advertising networks give you the option to opt-out of targeted advertising. If you would like more information on this, please visit https://www.aboutads.com/choices or https://www.youronlinechoices.com.
